Fees and charges
This section applies only to marine licences.
The Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) is our principal scientific advisor and supports us in a number of areas of work related to marine licensing. As part of our commitment to transparency, we will clearly identify the costs we incur for Cefas’ work.
We are obliged to recover costs for the services we provide. Our fees and charges can be categorised in three broad areas.
The marine licensing fees and charges are currently being reviewed with a proposed date of 6 April 2014. Under these proposals all Tier 3 cases will be subject to the new hourly rate from the fee revision date. All MMO hours worked on your case before 6 April 2014 will be charged at the current rate of £80 per hour and any hours worked from 6 April 2014 will be charged at the revised rate. Payment must be made at the time an application is submitted. More information on How to make a payment.
See Fast track licensing for our work to identify licensable activities are straightforward and, dependent on location, timing and so on, carry a relatively low risk.
