Electronic recording and reporting of fishing activity
The Electronic Recording and Reporting of Fishing Activity Scheme (ERS) project has been established as a joint exercise between the UK fisheries administrations to provide a UK solution for electronic sales notes (eSales Notes) and electronic logbook (eLogbook) computer systems.
Aims
The project's aims are to:
- put in place IT systems and services that will enable information to be captured relating to the catching of fish by UK fishing vessels and the first selling of fish at points of sale located in the UK
- ensure the information required can be transmitted electronically from fishing vessels and UK buyers and sellers to the UK authorities and in turn for the UK authorities to be able to exchange such information with the authorities in other EU member states and third countries where appropriate
- consult and fit in with practices currently used by buyers and sellers where possible
- integrate this data with existing UK fisheries administrations IT systems.
This electronic information will include information currently provided by fishermen's logbooks, transhipment declarations, landing declarations, and buyers and sellers sales notes and take-over declarations.
