ENG RTC 7

As a result of sampling, in accordance with Commission Regulation (EC) 724/2010 laying down detailed rules for the implementation of real time closures of certain fisheries in the North Sea and Skagerrak, an area of high abundance of juvenile whiting off the east coast, approximately 15 miles east of Flamborough Head has resulted in a juvenile real time closure. The closure was triggered by a positive samples containing 29.5 per cent juvenile whiting.

ENG RTC 7 was closed from 00.01 22 June 2011 to 23.59 (UTC) 12 July 2011 to all vessels using demersal towed gear (otter trawls, beam trawls, Danish/Scottish seines) and longlines. Vessels using pelagic trawls, purse seines, drift nets and jiggers targeting herring, mackerel and horse mackerel, and pots, scallop dredges and gillnets are not prohibited.
